There are 9 fifth graders in my class. I challenged them to, as a group, write an informational book about the 13 original colonies. Each student researched and wrote about at least one of the 13 colonies and several students wrote about 2 colonies! They worked together to combine all of their writing into ONE book!
Learning Objectives:
Students will -
- Understand why Europeans moved to America
- Identify and describe the 13 Colonies
- Explain how the Colonies differed from one another
- Explain how trade helped the colonists meet their needs and wants
- Explain conflicts they encountered
- Explain the relationship Colonists had with the Natives
