4th Grade Native American Books

The 15 - 4th Graders in my class learned about Washington State Native Americans.  They chose one tribe from Washington and learned as much as they could about that tribe then wrote a book to teach others what they learned.

Learning Targets -

• The tribes of Washington
• How natives used the environment to meet their needs and wants
• Conflicts natives encountered
• Why learning about Wa History is important today

5th Grade Colonization Informational Book

There are 9 fifth graders in my class.  I challenged them to, as a group, write an informational book about the 13 original colonies.  Each student researched and wrote about at least one of the 13 colonies and several students wrote about 2 colonies!  They worked together to combine all of their writing into ONE book!

Learning Objectives:

Students will -

• Understand why Europeans moved to America
• Identify and describe the 13 Colonies
• Explain how the Colonies differed from one another
• Explain how trade helped the colonists meet their needs and wants
• Explain conflicts they encountered
• Explain the relationship Colonists had with the Natives
